In this workshop you’ll be introduced to the original folk opera that was performed by children over 50 times in the Terezin concentration camp and invited to discuss the relevance of the narrative today. PLUS, you’ll be equipped to engage as a community player during actual performances in March 2016 at City Hall in Burlington when Theatre Kavanah and In Tandem Arts mounts the full production. Led by local artists involved in the production, this playful workshop invites community members to step into the story.

ISRAELI DANCING

Session I only
Learn the steps and styles of some basic Israeli Folk Dances. Old and New...this workshop will teach and do dances that you might choose for your child’s b’not mitzvah party —or if you are just interested in another piece of Jewish Culture. We’ll do mostly circle and line dances that are easy to pick up. All ages invited (age 9 and above for focus and coordination). Israeli folk dance started as a way to create a folk culture in a new country - dancing to Israeli songs. Israeli folk dance was a symbol of unification to bolster national identity. This workshop will get you moving!
