The Middlebury College Music Department presents "Sickness and Healing in Song," the senior thesis voice recital of Jack DesBois. This hour-long program features art, folk and musical theatre songs that contribute to music's rich dialogue on illness and healing. DesBois shares thoughtful interpretations of works by Britten, Schubert, Sting and others, in collaboration with pianist Cynthia Huard and a talented group of student musicians. Highlights of the program include songs from DesBois's work-in-progress new musical "Invalid," about a young woman's struggle to come to terms with the reality of her father's chronic illness. This program is a heartfelt and uplifting meditation on the relationship between illness and music.
