As energy coordinator from Plainfield, I thought you might be interested in this tour of net zero energy buildings at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, in Craftsbury next Monday evening, November 2nd, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM For your interest, a Net Zero Energy building is a building with zero net energy consumption, meaning that the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site. Tour & Presentation of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center Net Zero Buildings

On Mon., 11/2, 6:30 - 8:30, the Craftsbury Energy Committee and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) are hosting a tour and presentation of COC’s Net Zero buildings and related energy saving infrastructure. All events will be at the COC.

The presentation has residential as well as commercial applications including a hot water heat pump, solar hot water, wood-fired gasifier for heat and electricity, radiant floor heat, solar electric, super insulated and airtight buildings w/ passive solar design, Clivus Multrum composting toilet system, geo-thermal preheated ventilation, and more!

The COC is also currently building moderately sized, Net Zero residential buildings (“Cabins”) as an option for their patrons. These will also be discussed.

Architect Patrick Kane, from E. Hardwick, plus building and infrastructure contractors will be on hand to answer questions.

Along with promoting life-long sports and protecting and managing their local environment, the COC’s mission also involves using and teaching sustainable practices. Come and find out what you could apply in your home or business!
