Learn about the proposal to merge the Elmore and Morristown school districts - it is up for a vote on Nov. 3.
If successful, the proposal would create one school district between the two neighboring towns.
If passed, the merger would save Elmore taxpayers ~30 cents on their tax rate. Morristown taxpayers would see a one or two cent tax rate increase at first, but would then benefit from long-term tax rate stability. Morristown's tax rate will stabilize because all Elmore public school students would go to Peoples Academy, rather than having school choice in grades 7-12.
Public informational meetings on the proposed merger are scheduled for Oct. 27, at 6 p.m., at the Morristown Elementary School Library and Oct. 28, at 6 p.m., at the Elmore Town Hall.
