Neighbors,
On Monday, the City Council will convene its final meeting in October. We will begin the evening by holding a work session
on the downtown and residential parking management plans at 5:45 p.m. in Conference Room 12 in City Hall.
The regular City Council meeting will begin at 7:00 in Contois. First on our agenda is a communication from Fire Chief Seth Lasker and Dr. Michael Sheeser on the Burlington Fire Department Paramedic Program. This will be followed by an interim report from the Board of Health, an annual report from the Burlington Electric Commission and a communication from John Bossange, board member of the Parks Foundation of Burlington.
The first item on our deliberative agenda is a report on the Fiscal Stability Bond. Next, we will consider two proposed charter changes that would increase the number of commissioners on the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Police Commission from five to seven members. We will then consider three resolutions. The first resolution urges removal of the recommendation to permit housing in the Enterprise Zone in the draft planBTV South End. This resolution was drafted by Councilor Shannon and I to permit the public and planning bodies to focus on the other recommendations in the plan. The resolution is co-sponsored by Councilors Paul and Ayres and has the support of Mayor Weinberger. The other two resolutions involve reorganizations of Burlington Electric Department and the Department of Planning and Zoning.
Following consideration of these resolutions, we are expected to go into into Executive Session to receive an update from the City Attorney on various legal matters.
The last items on the agenda are committee reports, comments from Councilors and the Mayor.
Public Forum begins at 7:30 p.m. Additional information on the agenda is accessible via the City's website:
