Come donate your tires, and support our neighbors and friend in need this winter through the Wheels for Warmth Program! This week - Thursday and Friday (October 29th and 30th) from 2:00 - 5:30 PM at Percy Park in Stowe.
An annual fundraiser, Wheels for Warmth was established in 2005 by Phil Scott as a fundraiser for emergency heating assistance programs. The program has three goals:
1) Raise funds for emergency fuel assistance for distribution to needy families through regional Community Action Agencies
2) Create a resource of DMV-inspected tires that are deemed safe for at least one season of use, to be sold to needy Vermonters at reasonable prices;
3) Provide a convenient, inexpensive way to dispose of unwanted tires, reducing the number of tires discarded in rivers or along our roadways.
To date, the program has raised over $250,000 for fuel assistance, sold 12,500 safe donated tires, and recycled almost 20,500 unsafe, unusable tires.
Please save your tires and bring them to us this Thursday and Friday. If they pass inspection and are still usable for at least one more season, they will be sold at the Tire Sale on October 31st at reasonable prices. If they are no longer usable they will be disposed of conveniently and responsibly for a $4.00/tire fee.
This is a great way to support our neighbors and friends in need throughout the winter months.
