This Monday, October 26, Shelburne Community School (SCS) is proud to host Helene Neville as our guest speaker to kick off the annual Red Ribbon Week celebration. At 55 years old, Helene made her way—on foot and alone – around the perimeter of the United States from Canada to Mexico, from California to Florida, from Florida to Maine, and, finally, from Canada (Eastern Maine) to Washington State. The run, which spanned five years, three countries, 38 states plus the District ofColumbia and 9,620 miles, presented barriers which would have stopped others in their tracks. She will be sharing her story with all middle school students during the day, running with our cross country team afterschool, and then speaking with any interested community members at 7 PM in our cafeteria. We want to offer an open invitation to everyone to come hear her inspiring story.
Even if you can't attend Helene's presentation Monday night, I would encourage you to review this press release and gain a bit of inspiration in pondering her accomplishments. Here is a link to a .pdf https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Z45w9P-_vTb1JUZ2VqR2V3VVlSSi1CMTI4LS1qaXJOTF9j/view?usp=sharing
