This Halloween, we’re performing what is probably our best duo piece, the darkly gripping German classic, “Juniper Tree.” Booklist called our recorded performance “murderous and magical,” J.R.R Tolkien called the written version “a tale of beauty and horror.” Adults may find it genuinely disturbing (in a good way); by and large, kids think it's funny.
Halloween is the ancient Irish New Year holiday, Samadh-night, so Leanne will play her harp. Guest performer Ellis Jacobson presents a dramatic recitation of the Robert Service classic “Cremation of Sam McGee.” Tim will tell a ghost story he learned from a fifth grade girl in Chester, and sing an old ballad or two. If there’s time, he’ll perform the last Jack tale, "Wickedy-whack, into my sack."
The evening is suitable for adults, teens, and children aged 10 and up who like Halloween storytelling. $10 adults/ $5 kids ten to fifteen.
