Help us “Fill the Firehouse!”
Tomorrow the fire departments of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro will conduct a food drive for the Have-A-Heart Food Shelf.
This is the second year these five departments have join forces for this worthwhile effort. Each department will open their doors from 9 to noon and we sincerely hope that our families, friends and neighbors will stop by the firehouse and drop off a donation. If your preference is to provide a monetary donation, checks payable to the Have-A-Heart Food Shelf are also accepted.
Volunteer firefighters are called upon to help their neighbors in a time of need and we feel this is just another extension of that need. We are in hopes that our collective efforts will assure that our neighbors will have a resource to help them through a month or two when expenses, especially during the winter months can be overwhelming and they need to rely on the Have-A-Heart food shelf for a little assistance.
What do they need? Peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, cereal, soup, tuna fish, rice, beans as well as laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and deodorant. With the holidays just around the corner the food shelf is also looking for pumpkin, cranberries, stuffing mix, evaporated milk, pie crust and now with a freezer, frozen turkeys are more than welcome.
Please consider making a donation to this food drive and we hope to see you tomorrow.
