Vermont is changing how we manage our schools... On 10/27 at 6pm - please give the Dorset School Board your input
Vermont passed new legislation this year - Act 46 - that is designed to reorganize school boards across the state.
The Dorset School Board, and all the schools in our Supervisory Union (the Bennington Rutland Supervisory Union), have been working since summer to understand this new law, and to figure out the best path for our schools - going forward.
You should be aware that residents of each town will be asked to vote on a direction for governance of our schools.
Act 46 puts this decision in our hands (with limitations, of course).
So…. the Dorset School Board wants you to understand the new law and our options for responding to Act 46.
And, we are hoping to get Dorset resident's input on the direction they would like Dorset to take.
We would appreciate your joining us at a meeting on : Tuesday, October 27th, at 6pm at The Dorset School
to discuss Act 46 and how we want The Dorset School to be governed in the future.
If you would like to learn more (before, or after, the meeting) - check out the following link to a 30-minute interview by Andrew McKeever of the Manchester Journal. Andrew's guest was our Superintendent, Dan French - and the interview provides good background on Act 46 in the context of our schools. The interview can be accessed at this link:
