Fall Blood Drive
The Harwood Union Student Government is sponsoring a blood drive on Wednesday, November 11 from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm in the Middle School Multi-purpose Room in memory of beloved former Harwood Union staff member Mary Hart.
Healthy donors are needed at this time to shore up blood during the challenging holiday season. Blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 with parental consent, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health on the day of donation. Young people under the age of 19 may need to meet additional height and weight restrictions.
Parent consent forms for 16 year-old will be available at the sign-up table or can be downloaded at http://www.redcrossblood.org. Walk-in donors from the community are always welcome.
Donors can safely give blood every eight weeks and most medications and medical conditions do not prevent someone from being a blood donor. The Red Cross encourages healthy adults to give blood and share their good health with those who must rely on blood transfusions. To find a Red Cross blood drive, or to make an appointment, call 1-800 RED CROSS or visit online at redcrossblood.org.

If you are still not convinced to give here are a few other compelling reasons to consider donating:
Fresh baked goods and other delicious refreshments are being served all day to donors.
Blood is especially needed NOW. Flooding along the East Coast has forced the cancellation of many blood drives leading to shortages around the country. Blood collected in Vermont is currently being diverted to these high need areas leaving the shelves of our blood banks bare.
Young people who begin donating in high school tend to be lifelong donors…. so think about the potential blood donating capacity this will create
Please give blood to a friend, a neighbor or a stranger. Your help is needed now more than ever.

Thank you!
