Becoming a Citizen Scientist Workshop
Want to learn more about invasive plants, and how you can get involved in efforts throughout the state to remove them? Learn how to use a common, free tool that scientists are utilizing to track the spread of invasive plants in Vermont. Leave confident in your abilities and ready to take action on your own property!
The program is being held on Saturday, October 31, on the Sterling College campus in Craftsbury Common, Vermont. The workshop focuses on iNaturalist (www.inaturalist.org) and will provide information and resources for local projects. Feel free to bring your smart devices with the iNaturalist app (free), or learn how to use their website and take part by using a digital camera (GPS enabled, or bring along a handheld GPS). Snacks will be provided.
Leading the event is Elizabeth Spinney, the Invasive Plant Coordinator for VT Forests, Parks, and Recreation. The program is from 9 am to noon and is free and open to the public.
The event is hosted by Sterling College and the Craftsbury Conservation Commission. Join us as we master the skills to becoming a citizen scientist!
