I AM A GIRL documentary at the Roxy Nov 5, 7:30pm

This feature length documentary weaves a stunning tapestry through the voices of girls from diverse cultures on the brink of womanhood. Being born a girl today means possibility of subjection to violence, neglect, abuse, disease, poverty, and discrimination. Yet, in spite of the obstacles to justice, equality, and respect, girls are finding ways to persevere. I AM A GIRL tells the stories of of Aziza, Kinsey, Breani, Katie, Manu and Habiba as they come of age in the ways their cultures dictate. I AM A GIRL is brought to Vermont by the Mountain Mamas in Jericho/Underhill. Donations resulting from the screening will go to Make Every Woman Count, a non-profit providing services to girls and women and partnering with government leaders and global institutions to overcome obstacles to equality, justice and respect for girls and women in African countries.
