Marafanyi Drum, Dance and Song brings the excitement and joy of West African drum, dance and song to The Yoga Place in Bennington on Sunday, October 25th, with two special workshops. A dance workshop will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a drum workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Both workshops are at 532 Main Street in Bennington, VT (upstairs over Panache).

Lara Gonzalez and Yael Shacham have been teaching artists for 15 years and travel frequently to Guinea. Marafanyi promotes the therapeutic and transformational power of drum, dance and song, for people of all ages and abilities. They recently appeared with Congolese guitarist Dominic Kanza and his African Rhythm Machine at Mass MoCA and have worked and performed with many musicians and dancers around the world.

Pregistration is requested for these workshops and the prepaid costs are $15 per person for either the drum or dance workshop and $25 per person for both workshops. Drop-in cost is $20 for one workshop or $30 for both workshops. Drum rentals are available (by preregistration only) for an additional $5.
