The Fire Departments of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven, and Starksboro are each holding food collection points at their stations on October 24th from 9:00 am to noon. Please join your neighbors in helping to fill the Bristol Have A Heart Food Shelf in Bristol.

The following information was received from the Food Shelf and shows the percentages for usage by Town and also gives suggestions for items that are needed:

The numbers below are based on the average of 3 summer months. Please note, as well as pass along, that traditionally our numbers go up in the winter months. This is especially true over Thanksgiving and Christmas when they serve over 100 families for each Holiday.
3 month average 150 individuals helped = 60 households
% from each town:
Bristol 42%, Starksboro 22%, Lincoln 14%, New Haven 12%, Monkton 10%

List of suggested items; Peanut Butter, Spaghetti Sauce, Cereal, Fruit, veggies, Soup, Tuna, Rice, Beans, Laundry Soap, Shampoo, Toothpaste & Brushes, Deodorant, Bar Soap,

Holiday Items: Pumpkin, Cranberries, Stuffing Mix, Evapo Milk, Pie Crust, etc.

We have a new freezer and would also welcome Frozen Turkeys.

Please contact one of your fireman and women if you are not able to drop things off that day and make arrangements to drop items at a store in your town or at the fire department member's home.

Cash or checks written to the Bristol Have A Heart Food Shelf at tax deductible and we will also collect that at the fire houses if that makes it easier for you.

We will be sending out another reminder next week. Please pass this on to your neighbors who might not see the Front Page Forum posting.

We look forward to filling our fire houses and food shelf . Help us to help others so that they are well fed.
