We've had an amazing string of events in our Experts in the Field series. If you've caught any of them so far you probably know a whole lot more about such topics as mushrooms, apples, cold-blooded critters, fly ties, pollinators, or songbirds.
But the fun isn't over yet! Join us for a double feature on Sunday, October 18th at the West Farm (497 West Farm Road in Jeffersonville) for the final installment of our series.
In Part 1 at 12pm, Three Crows Farm's Holly Simpson will cover the basics of vegetable fermentation, touching upon the tools, vessels, simple recipes, etc. She will also cover brining garlic and if time avails, we'll also discuss the basics of homemade kombucha.
In Part 2, at 2pm, Koi Boynton will lead a basic seed saving workshop that will take you from planning your garden to harvest. Learn isolation techniques, processing dry and wet seed, and germination testing. Observe your garden in new ways and invite more pollinators.
Both of these events are free and open to the public. Come to one or both, and bring your friends!
These events are made possible via a grant funded to the Cambridge Conservation Commission by the Association of Vermont Conservation Commissions.
