Hardwick Elementary School is opening its Harvest Dinner to the general public for the first time, October 20 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Students are busy making kale pesto and baguettes of kale they grew in their school garden beds, plus corn chowder from donated corn they picked at the Laggis Farm and potatoes they dug at the Foster Farm. Students are also making corn bread of corn they grind themselves, plus minestrone and roasted squash soup, salads, breads, and apple crisp and zucchini cake for dessert! Art students are busy making the decorations. This dinner is to celebrate our connections with local farmers and the community, so we hope you will join us! Please RSVP by Oct. 13 if possible to Center for an Agricultural Economy Community Projects Coordinator Bethany M. Dunbar. Parents and farmer partners are free, others may provide a suggested donation of $5. See you there! bethany@hardwickagriculture.org or (802) 472-5362.
