Local Author Discusses Nobel Prize

I'll be presenting my slideshow, “Behind the Prize: The Explosive History of the Nobel Peace Prize,” at the Rutland Free Library this coming Wednesday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. You can find out more about the presentation and the novel I'm writing on the subject at www.peaceatlast.net.

Here's a condensed version of the press release:

Alfred Nobel, the wealthy inventor of dynamite, led an adventurous yet relatively lonely life. Coyle has retraced his footsteps across Europe to research his historical novel Peace at Last, which explores Nobel’s personal relationship with Bertha von Suttner, the first woman to receive the Peace Prize. The presentation will include many photographs taken on his travels throughout Sweden, France, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. A brief discussion of past and present winners, many of them quite controversial, will follow.

It would be wonderful to see from friendly faces from the neighborhood in the audience. Feel free to spread the word to any of your friends who are interested in history or historical fiction. Thanks!
