Hello neighbors!
Only Two Farmers Markets left this season! Now is the time to fill your larder with the goodies you'll need to feed yourself, your family and your friends over the long winter months. Do you have enough Honey? Jam? Maple Syrup? How about stocking up on some candles to light those dark nights of Hanukkah and Christmas and into the New Year? Winter squash, potatoes, onions and more will help you "keep it local" well into winter.
Music starting at 4:30pm (note earlier start time): O'hAnleigh (http://www.ohanleigh.com/) plays Irish-American music that hits home all over the world, with hand-clapping sing-alongs, toe-tapping fiddle tunes, haunting ballads of struggle and emigration, and award-winning original songs based on Celtic myth and legend. A big thank you to Richmond Market and Beverage for sponsoring this performance! We're so lucky to have this locally owned grocery store in town that is so responsive to community needs and that features local products year-round.
GIFTS! Now is the time to plan out your holiday gift baskets - fill them with jams and other canned goods from Nama Farm, a small winter squash, some candles, honey, syrup. How about a Buy Local coupon book to support the 4 Winds Program at RES?
Bread freezes well. Buy a half dozen loaves and wrap and freeze them to pull out later in the fall. Pop it in the oven in a paper bag and warm it up to accompany a nice squash soup in early November! Ask Colin which of his other goodies will freeze well.
This week we also welcome back Smiling Bee Cider. Pick up some to enjoy now and some for the freezer.
