Oct 13, 2015

Thinking about going to college? It is one of the major life decisions that students and parents/guardians make. What college should I go to? Is more expensive better? How do I afford it? What steps can I take while still in high school to prepare for college?

Randolph Technical Career Center is presenting a workshop for potential college students (of any age) and their parents/guardians on Tuesday, October 13 from 6-7 in the Media Center of Randolph Union High School. Presenters will include Jason Gingold, Director of RTCC and former Academic Dean at New England Culinary Institute and Mike Van Dyke, former Dean of the College at Vermont Tech and 30 year veteran of higher education who will discuss topics such as:
-The business of higher education
-What opportunities are available to get college credit in high school?
-What is an articulation agreement?
-How do I improve my chances of getting into the college I want to attend?
-Is there a real advantage to be gained by going to a “top tier school”?
-Is the “sticker price” the price I will pay? What is the “real deal”?
-What is the difference between Accuplacer and the SAT?
-What resources are available to learn more about the colleges I’m interested in?
-What are the most in demand skills and majors?
-Who are the most important people to talk with at a college I’m considering?

This will be an informal presentation which will encourage interaction between presenters and the audience. Bring your questions!
