Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m., the library will host a presentation by musical scholar Julian Gerstin, a teacher of music at Keene State College and the Vermont Jazz Center. This presentation will inform us about jazz—its strong associations with African-American culture—and how it travelled across the globe with surprising results, to such places as India, Iraq, Peru, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Highlights will feature unusual and exciting sounds from contemporary artists (prerecorded).

Light refreshments will be served; the event is free and open to the public.
