TOWN OF FAIR HAVEN
NOTICE OF PUBLIC FORUM ON
RENEWABLE ENERGY (SOLAR & HYDRO)

The Fair Haven Selectboard is holding a public forum on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fair Haven Grade School gymnasium at 103 No. Main Street, Fair Haven, VT to discuss with the public possible renewable energy projects related to solar and hydro.

One, there are several solar companies that are interested in installing solar panels in Town that would result in reduced electricity costs for municipal facilities while, also, adding some new, but limited, revenue to the Town. The Selectboard would appreciate the public’s opinion on such a concept before deciding whether or not to solicit proposals.

Two, the Selectboard continues to consider the construction of a small-scale hydroelectric generating plant on the Castleton River where an existing dam already exists. This project, too, could provide new revenue for the Town while reducing electric costs for municipal facilities. As with the solar panel concept, the Board seeks the public’s insight on the idea before deciding whether or not to move forward.

Members of the Town Energy Committee are expected to attend to help with the discussion.

Questions may be directed to Herb Durfee, Town Manager (802-265-3010 x5 or fhmanager@comcast.net). Thank you in advance for taking the time to discuss the future of renewable energy in Town.
