As we enter October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), we pause to acknowledge that domestic violence is the leading cause of violent death in Vermont. Over the past 20 years, 50% of all Vermont homicides were domestic violence related. A number of murders have recently occurred very close to home, right in the Upper Valley. Domestic violence affects all of us. On Sunday, October 4th, WISE will host a community vigil to bring awareness to the extreme violence that so many of us encounter. We invite you to come and honor victims and survivors of domestic violence. WISE will provide music, bonfire, and different ways for you to engage in eliminating violence.
