Scouting - a Way to Build Character and New Friends

Past event
Sep 29, 2015, 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Tuesday, September 29, 6:30 - 7:30 at the Waitsfield Masonic Lodge (across the street from the Joslin Library) will be a presentation on the benefits of Scouting for boys in 1st through 5th grade. Boys and their families are invited to come to this Rocket-into-Scouting gathering. We will be starting the gathering first in the parking area to launch rockets. Bring your own 2-liter bottle.

Here are some of the things these boys will be doing this year:

The Tigers (1st Graders) will be exploring the backyard jungle, learning about teamwork, doing an activity to help the community, hiking with the den and learning a magic trick or two.

The Wolves (2nd Graders) will be learning how to plan for camping, learn about knot tying, understand the U.S. Flag requirements and will look at things in the environment like animals and the weather.

The Bears (3rd Graders) will learn how to whittle, put up tents, learn about famous Americans, and learn how to use simple
tools and build a toolbox or a model sailing ship.

The Webelos (4th and 5th Graders) will learn what it means to be a First Responder, make campfires and will cook with cast iron pots, they will meet with a government leader and learn about his or her role in our community, and they will get to choose from many different fun and exciting adventures.
