Southern Windham COAD Launch

Past event
Oct 7, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Come learn about the newly forming Southern Windham COAD - October 7th from 5:30-7:30pm at Marlboro Elementary School is the first informational/introductory meeting of the Southern Windham Community Organizations Active in Disaster, or SWCOAD. COAD groups are dedicated to helping communities make the best of resources in a disaster by creating relationships prior to an event and/or incident in order to ensure that human needs probable in a disaster situation are assessed and met. COADs in general are not a new idea, and indeed COAD organizations are present nationwide. SWCOAD is the first such effort in our area of Vermont.

SWCOAD has spun out of the Southeastern Vermont Irene Long Term Recovery Committee (SEVT LTRC). SEVT LTRC has provided coordinated response to the long-term disaster recovery in Windham County over the last several years by assisting those that didn’t receive state or federal assistance. Their role is being transferred to the SWCOAD, which is just getting started! The SWCOAD is intended to be a group of partner organizations that work proactively in times of “peace” to maintain a level of coordination that can quickly be called upon for an effective and efficient response during disasters that impact individuals and businesses. For questions or to RSVP, please contact Alyssa Sabetto at asabetto@windhamregional.org or 802-257-4547 ext. 109.
