Relocalizing Vermont: The Clean Energy Economy

Past event
Sep 24, 2015

9:00 - 10:00 am
How big is the clean energy economy in Vermont, and how can clean energy further be used as an engine of economic growth?

The state recently released a clean energy jobs report, noting that almost 5% of Vermont workers are in renewable energy and efficiency, in around 3,500 businesses. Public Service Commissioner Chris Recchia talks about the economic impact of clean energy--and Vermont's success in keeping electrical rates stable.

Yoram Bauman bills himself as a "stand-up economist," and he's a pretty funny guy. But we'll hear him get serious talking about the benefits of a carbon pollution tax--why he is working for one in Washington state, and how it has worked out just north of him, in British Columbia.

Gabrielle Stebbins of Renewable Energy Vermont will kick things off, previewing some of the highlights of their annual conference coming up October 8-9.

10:00 - 10:30 am
Resilience Thoughts, thoughts on safe roads, plus upcoming events related to energy, food, and the local economy at the end of the age of oil.

Please tune in! Relocalizing Vermont runs Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:30 am Eastern, on WGDR Plainfield 91.1 FM / WGDH Hardwick 91.7 FM / streaming at wgdr.org
