To celebrate and kick off the new season, on October 1, 2 and 3, Girls on the Run Vermont will host a three city showing of the documentary film "Finding Traction". Back in the summer of 2013, Vermont native and famed ultra-runner Nikki Kimball, set out to run the 273-mile Long Trail in record time. Her quest also included the making of this film during which Girls on the Run Vermont has an appearance.

Aside from this remarkable physical journey, Finding Traction communicates critical themes about the power of women in sports, and the relationship between physical activity and mental health management. This production is truly an inspiring and broad-reaching cinematic experience.

In northern Vermont, the kick-off celebration and film will be:
October 3, 4:00 p.m. at Williston Central School.

Participate in a 2-3 mile fun run with Nikki and a Hoka One One shoe demo at 3:30 p.m., prior to the showing.
Attendees will receive a raffle entry for prizes.Tickets will be available at the door - $12 for adults, $6 for 18 and under - or purchase online at www.girlsontherunvermont.org Nikki will be at the screening to talk about her Long Trail experience, and what it took to push herself to do her physical and mental best. Nikki is a remarkable athlete who believes all girls and women deserve their place to shine.
