Hunger and poverty are rampant in our world, and escalating in the current economic climate. Something can and must be done about them. Our local CROP Hunger Walk is a great place to start. For a few hours and three miles on September 27th at 12:30PM, friends and neighbors will come together to celebrate 31 years of fighting hunger and poverty, aiding refugees, and contributing to the vital self-help development programs for which Church World Service has been known for over 68 years.
While Church World Service is working around the world, 25 percent of what we raise by walking is returned to local food shelves in Waterbury and Duxbury, Christ’s Church in Montpelier, and the valley towns of Waitsfield and Warren. This year, we hope to raise $5000. Won’t you join us?
Volunteer, sponsor a walker, or work those muscles on Sunday, September 27th. Registration begins at 12:30PM at the White Meeting House, 8 N. Main Street in Waterbury and we start our 3-mile loop at 1PM.
It really will make a world of difference. And can’t we all use a little more exercise?
