Some very dedicated and thoughtful neighbors have arranged to have their questions answered by DEC and their important message about the Leddy Soils heard by everyone next week. Please join and support them in making our neighborhood a safe, clean and prosperous place to live. You can also have your own questions answered. When?

FPF Message from:

DIANA WOOD, DMWOOD@BURLINGTONVT.GOV, MARKETING & OUTREACH MANAGER, BURLINGTON PARKS & REC DEPT.

Soil testing of the Waterfront Park soils temporarily being stored at the Leddy parking lot (from the Burlington Bike Path Rehabilitation project) will be taking place next week.

Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (BPRW) has engaged The Johnson Company, Inc. to execute the testing. A memo detailing next steps may be found online:http://enjoyburlington.com/?p=1811

Additionally, BPRW and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC) invite the public to a discussion on these temporarily stockpiled soils.

Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2015
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Leddy Park in the Leddy Arena Community Room
Topic: Stockpiled Soils at Leddy Park Q&A

This will be an opportunity for community conversation on the Bike Path Rehab soils that are temporarily being stockpiled in the lower Leddy Park parking lot. While additional testing of the stockpile is underway, the results will likely not be available in time for this meeting. That said, both the City and VT DEC are committed to scheduling a second meeting (date TBD) to review the findings and present the soil disposal and/or reuse options once the results are available. In the meantime, the September 22nd meeting will provide a forum for community questions and comments.

We hope that you will be able to attend!
