The news is out!!!! The members of the Joint Services Club Committee have chosen five outstanding community members to receive awards at the 34th Annual Joint Service Clubs Community Recognition Dinner. Steven Freihohner, who is a tireless volunteer for Central Vermont Adult Basic Education, Bob Nelson, Barre business owner and a pillar of the Barre Partnership, Roy Somaini, in memoriam, who was Past President and a longtime active member of the Barre Rotary Club, Mark Tatro, business owner, school board member, and member of The Barre Lions Club and The Barre Masons, and The Barre Thunder Chickens who have raised over $35,000 for the Travis Mercy Memorial Skate Park at the Barre Town Recreation and were instrumental in the development and building of The Quarry Disc Golf Course in the Barre Town Forest.
Buy your tickets now for this event unique to Barre.The tickets are $20 and include appetizers and a delicious turkey dinner. The dinner is at 6 PM at the Canadian Club. Tickets may be purchased at the library or from JSC members. Hans Asoera will be our emcee and John Sayles, Executive Director of The Vermont Foodbank, will be our speaker.
The Aldrich Public Library is the beneficiary of the proceeds from this event and is home to memory books with photos and biographies of all past honorees, to which this year's "class" will be added.
