7th Annual Shoreham Apple Fest

The 7th annual Apple Fest will be held on Sunday, September 20st at the Shoreham town green and gazebo. Delicious food, live music, an apple pie contest, a farmers' market, children's activities and a Kiss the Pig contest will be featured at the afternoon-long event. Apple Fest is an annual fall fundraiser for the Friends of the Platt Memorial Library and is a public event open to all.
The Library will offer for sale a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches with slaw, mac'n cheese, apple desserts and cider. Entertainment will be provided by the traditional Irish music band Extra Stout. Farmers' Market vendors will be selling fresh vegetables and apples, bottles of locally produced apple hard cider and ice cider, several types of locally bottled spirits , cheeses, eggs, farm raised meat, honey, maple products, candied apples, jams, jellies and handmade arts and crafts. Relax and enjoy a glass of hard or fresh sweet cider at the cocktail garden!
Enter a pie in the "Best Apple Pie" contest. There will be 2 entry categories: youth (under the age of 16) and adults (16 and older). Individuals or teams are encouraged to enter. Contest rules, entry forms, and information about prizes can be found at Shoreham's Platt Memorial Library, orchards throughout Addison County, or downloaded at www.plattlib.org.
Special to this year's Apple Fest is the addition of a Pig Kissing Contest.
Following up on the popularity of Shoreham's 2011 pig kissin' event, the library has secured an impressive ballot of local celebrities to compete for the opportunity to kiss Petunia the piglet. Vote with your dollars today! Voting boxes are currently located at the library, the school and local area businesses. Last minute voting will take place at Apple Fest prior to the 2pm Kissin'. Come and see who will Kiss the Pig!

Pig Kissin' for the Library
An impressive ballot of Shoreham celebrities have lined up to compete for the opportunity to "Kiss the Pig" at Apple Fest on September 20. Throughout September townspeople have been placing their votes by depositing dollars into ballot boxes positioned throughout Shoreham. They are voting for the following local citizens: "The Banker" Mark Young, "The Diner Diva" Cora Waag, "The Ferry Master" Mike Matot, The Postman" Steve Goodrich, "The Principal" Mike Lenox, and "The Whisky Maker" Raj Bahkta. Each dollar equals one vote, and the celebrity with the most votes will "Kiss the Pig." The final tally will be made at Apple Fest in the town gazebo on Sunday, September 20 at 2pm, rain or shine. Petunia the piglet will be on hand for kissing and petting by all!
Ballot boxes are located at the Shoreham Elementary School, the Platt Memorial Library, the Halfway House Restaurant, the First National Bank of Orwell, and the Shoreham Inn. The public is invited to vote early and vote often. This election can be bought! Pig Kissin' is an effort of the Friends of the Platt. All profits to benefit the Platt Memorial Library.
