March for Elephants in October

Past event
Oct 4, 2015, 11 AM to 12:30 PM

On the first weekend in October, thousands of people around the world will march to put an end to the ivory and rhino horn trade. Unless action is taken now, we will lose these majestic, highly intelligent, and emotionally sentient creatures forever. In just 5-10 years. With lasting, far-reaching, deleterious ramifications.

Ivory Free Vermont will stage a march in Burlington, adding our voices to this global outcry:
- Sunday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m.
- Gather in front of City Hall on Church Street (149 Church Street) to march at 11:30 a.m.
- Rally at noon
- Register to march: www.ivoryfreevermont.org

Ivory Free Vermont will also host an “Ivory is for Elephants” Kid’s T-shirt Making Workshop on Sunday, September 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Studio, 4 Howard Street, Burlington. Davis Studio is a proud supporting sponsor of the march. In celebration of and preparation for this event, the studio will open its doors on September 27 for children and families to create a T-shirt to wear at the march, showing their support for elephant conservation. For a small fee, each participant will receive a T-shirt and all of the creative materials necessary to make a personalized "Ellie" shirt. There will be a documentary about elephants shown after each workshop and refreshments will be served. Registration is limited, (and also required! ). Please register today and find more information at http://davisstudiovt.com/products/t-shirt-painting-for-global-march-for-elephants-rhinos.

Both of these events are designed to create awareness about the plight of elephants in the ivory trade and to ensure that Vermont’s own bill to ban the ivory and rhino horn trade, H.297, passes without exemptions in 2016.
