Head Start to Celebrate 50 Years at Community Celebration

Bennington County Head Start (BCHS) will recognize its 50th Anniversary with a community celebration, ribbon cutting, and open house on its new West Street building on Thursday, September 10th from 2 to 5 pm at their campus in North Bennington.

The first Head Start program began in 1965 with 35 students over a seven week summer session. Today, BCHS serves 132 children throughout the entire year at schools across Bennington County.

“As one of the earliest Head Start programs in the country, Bennington County Head Start has a rich tradition of education and growth in supporting the youth in our community,” said BCHS Director Betsy Rathbun-Gunn. “We invite everyone to come celebrate our 50th anniversary and tour our new building!”

The West Street facility provides 3 classrooms and administrative space for the growing BCHS program. A ribbon cutting and open house will allow community partners to view the new space.
