A community-wide workshop the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 9 will kick off an exploration of ways to improve how Essex plans for growth and development. Hosted by the Town of Essex and Village of Essex Junction, the opening event for Thoughtful Growth in Action will present current community planning processes and structures. Community planning is the primary way that local government can shape the future of the Village and the Town outside the Village. This workshop is an opportunity to voice your questions, concerns, and ideas about how planning happens in Essex.

The project stems from the belief, highlighted by the Heart & Soul of Essex project, that the community wants a shared vision that honors and builds on the unique characteristics of the Village and the Town outside the Village. Heart & Soul found that Thoughtful Growth is a core value of the community. This project will help Essex put thoughtful growth into action by exploring ways that might improve the current planning governance structure.

The meeting will be held in the Essex High School cafeteria from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
