Geology of the Middlesex Town Forest
On Sunday, September 13 from 9:00 – 12:00 pm, please join us for a geology walk through the Middlesex Town Forest. Learn about the bedrock and the glacial deposits within the forest boundary. 500 million years of events are represented and illuminated by the geologic history of Central Vermont. We will walk along the path to Middlesex Notch but also bushwhack into the center of the forest so please wear long pants, boots, or sturdy shoes. Your guide will be Larry Becker who served as the Vermont State Geologist from 1995-2014 and is a Middlesex resident. Sponsored by the Middlesex Conservation Commission.
If you'd like to join the geology walk or have questions please contact Dave Shepard with the Middlesex Conservation Commission at 802-229-1744 or shep@pshift.com. The Middlesex Town Forest is located at the end of Notch Road. To get to Notch Road take exit 9 off I-89 and proceed north on Center Road then turn left onto Notch Road. We'll meet at the Middlesex town gravel pit on Notch Road and shuttle to the trail at the end of Notch Road as parking is limited at the trailhead.
