"In retrospect I believe that my associations, commencing in the Vermont House of Representatives as a page boy, in 1880, have granted me the rare opportunity of contact with men who became prominent, some of them eminent, in the affairs of their time." Thus begins Earle S. Kinsley's 1946 publication, "Recollections of Vermonters in State and National Affairs."
The Enosburgh Public Library has recently retired some of its Vermont Collection to make room for 27 new, updated titles. Kinsley's book is just one of many available pieces, dating back as far as 1937. The collection, to be auctioned on September 12, also features the work of Walter Hard, books of Vermont images, and a Vermont Encyclopedia.
On Saturday, September 12, at 12 p.m., join the Enosburgh Public Library for a Vermont-themed get-together, where the library will hold a Teacup Auction for each retired book. Tickets will be sold for 25¢ apiece. Add one or more tickets to each book's teacup to place your bid. Each book will go to the bidder with the most tickets in its teacup. Bidding will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
The Enosburgh Public Library is located at 241 Main Street in Enosburg Falls. For more information, contact Maria Harris, Library Director at (802) 933-2328 or enosburghlibrary@gmail.com.
