Randolph Center, VT - Vermont Technical College will be hosting our 5th annual 5K citizen’s race and Collegiate Invitational next Saturday, Sept 12th beginning at 9:30am. The citizen’s race is open to all ages and abilities, including walkers. Our 5K course is fun yet challenging, winding through the scenic trails and pastures of our beautiful Vermont Tech Campus in Randolph Center.
Citizen’s racers will have the opportunity to race against - and try to beat - Vermont Tech President Dan Smith, who won the race last year. Stay after the race to cheer on Vermont Tech Cross Country runners as they compete against other Colleges from across the region, including Yankee Small College Conference opponents Paul Smiths College, UMaine Augusta, Hampshire College and NHTI, as well as SUNY Sullivan and St. Michael’s College. Look out especially for Vermont Tech All-American Rebecca Broadbent in the women’s race at 11am, who will be racing for another record for the school and this course. All proceeds from the race help the Vermont Tech team prepare for Nationals in Florida.
Registration is available on-line at www.3Craceproductions.com or on the day of the race starting at 8am on the Vermont Tech soccer fields. Awards will go to the top 10 finishers in the citizen’s race, and the top three finishers in the collegiate races, including Vermont Tech made maple syrup for the winners.
