Dear Waitsfield Friends,

The Thursday afternoon meeting this week is at the Valley Professional Center at 5:30. We are a small group of concerned citizens and voters who want to improve our individual and community lives. We have named ourselves Waitsfield Citizens for Change and welcome any of you to our meetings.

As the commercial center of the Valley, Waitsfield has a lot of responsibility to all Valley residents to keep public spaces maintained and improved. In the past when there was a need or a request for an improvement, unless there was money in the town coffers, the request would be denied or postponed until the money was there. More recently the town has been spending money it didn't and doesn't have by applying for grants which are not free and which cause local taxes to increase. Some of the recent projects go forward without the voters knowledge. And many more incur big cost overruns. The bridge is estimated to cost close to a million by the time it is finished though the estimate was $600,000.
