Planning for FNESU Towns to Unite into One Board with One Budget
Act 46 of this year's legislature has established a required process for towns in a supervisory union that is expected to unite most town school districts in a supervisory union into one district with one board and one annual budget. The Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union's five towns have established a Unification Study Committee to analyze, recommend, and plan the towns' response. Jay Nichols, the FNESU Superintendent, is recommending unification.
The second meeting of the Unification Committee will be Monday, August 31, at 6 PM in the Enosburg Middle-Senior High School Library. The agenda includes an introduction to consultants, a review of Act 46, and discussions about community outreach and the timeline of activities into next year. If you would like to know more about what is in the works, you may attend this public meeting. The meeting agenda and minutes of the first meeting are available from the FNESU office in Richford, and they should be on the Union's website (sites.google.com/a/fnesu.net/home). The schedule of the Unification Committee's meetings over the next few months is also on the website.
