Latin Music & Dance Party
Fundraiser with international flair to benefit Hands to Honduras-Tela projects
High energy is in evidence for the 5th annual Latin Music & Dance Party at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn on Friday, September 11, 7:00 - 11:00pm! This fundraiser will benefit the very extensive Hands to Honduras-Tela project - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit currently under construction at the Tela Hospital.
The Coach Barn offers a perfect setting for: Two live Latin bands - Rhode Island's hottest Latin band - (Dominican-born) Jesus Andujar and band Grupo Sazon; and Vermont's own - (Dominican-born) Alejandro Torrens and band Grupo Sabor. While the bands are setting up, there will be Latin music by DJ Raul, and dance instruction featuring Bachata led by Victoria of Salsalina Dance Studio.
“You don’t have to be a dancer to enjoy the evening. There’s something for everyone.” Enjoy Latin-inspired appetizers: O Bread chili cheese ciabatta, Shelburne Farm cheese, William Wisell of Cucina Antica Half Baked will bake specialty pizzas in the courtyard, and Sonia of Sonia's Salsa will introduce her spicy tomatillo salsa. Desserts include locally baked cookies (Great Harvest & Rhino Foods), fresh fruits, and a special treat to enjoy samples of the scrumptious cheesecakes made by local Good Comida Bakery. Shelburne Farms will offer a cash bar (wine, beer, full bar - Margaritas and new drink, Peruvian Pisco Sour).
The silent auction offers great items so you can shop early for holiday gifts: art including 24" x 20" original of amazing color painting 'Sunrise at the Cenotes' by local artist Lynn Cummings, hand-felted coin purses by Monica Otsby, handmade leather purse by Margo Plank; local Vermont crafts and Honduran crafts; Shelburne Farms family membership; many restaurant gift certificates; gift baskets - soaps - cheeses; a case of Chessters; Red Sox tickets; First Night Burlington tickets; and a week at a resort - New Smyrna Beach Resort, Florida.
Buy your tickets ($30 p/p) now. Don't miss the event of the fall - “the music and dance performances alone are worthy of admission."
