Dear Starksboro Neighbors and Friends,

The Starksboro Mentoring Program is seeking community members willing to be a friend to a Robinson Elementary School student for one hour each week.   The program is very flexible regarding the times mentors meet with their “mentees” and is tailored to the individual likes and needs of both.  Mentors are friends and role models, not teachers or counselors, and the goal is to match children with compatible adults for a positive, on-going relationship experience.
The program is coordinated by Robinson Guidance Counselor Amy Johnston and Assistant Coordinator Peg Pifer and offers extensive support in the form of training, activities, arts and craft supplies, sports equipment, gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants, and lots of ideas for fun things to do with your mentee.  There are regular events for the entire group of mentors and mentees as well as occasional pot luck get-togethers and support sessions for mentors only.
Please consider learning more about this important program and becoming an positive influence in a child’s life by calling Amy Johnston at  453-2949 or emailing her at  ajohnston@anesu.org.  Peg Pifer may be reached at 435-5715 or by email at ppifer@anesu.org.
An dinner and informational meeting will also be held on Friday, September 11th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Pifer reisdence, 348 Sam Stokes Road. Come and meet all the people who have made this program a model of successful mentoring  (and have a little fun, too!) Call with any questions or to let us know of your interest! Amy and Peg
