LEDC PRESENTS WORKSHOP ON THE IMPACT OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN THE WORKPLACE

MORRISVILLE -

No business, regardless of size or location, is immune to the countless problems
that alcohol and other drug abuse can cause. Research shows that substance abusers are:

• 5 times more likely to file a workers’ compensation claim
• 2.5 times more likely to have lengthy absences from work
• 3 times more likely to be late for work
• likely to use 2.5 more medical benefits, and
• one-third less productive

Please join us for this informative training and networking opportunity

Participants will learn about:

• the impact that substance abuse has in the workplace,
• you will learn about the progression of abuse and addiction,
• What employers can do to address substance abuse impacts in the workplace through workplace policy and Employee Assistance Programs
• What community resources are available to you and your employees and
• how you can motivate employees and plant the seeds for change!

The presenters, are Michelle Salvador, a Substance Abuse Prevention Consultant with the Vermont Agency of Human Services for the last 17 years and Ed Baker, who has worked in the field of Addictions and Recovery since 1985. The workshop will take place on September 9th from 9 am to noon in the Community Room at GMTCC. The workshop is free but pre-registration is required.
