It was the end of summer. The grasshopper was happily basking in the late season sunshine and chirping and singing his heart out in appreciation of the beautiful weather. He watched an ant toiling away carrying food to her nest for the winter. The grasshopper said, "Why do you work so hard? Why not enjoy life like I do?" The ant knew winter was coming and kept on with her work. When winter came she had lots of food to see her through the cold season and plenty to share with her friends.
What Aesop didn't realize is that there's a little bit of both types in everyone of us.
If you are feeling like a grasshopper, wishing to hang on to our short sunny season just a little bit longer, we've got some light, summer beach reading just for you. If you are feeling like an ant and are looking to put in some stores of reading material to stimulate your mind, nourish your spirit and sustain you through the winter we've got loads of books for you as well!
All books are 50 cents and all proceeds will benefit the Worcester Food Shelf and the Community Kitchen
