Floods Along the West River Presentation

Past event
Aug 26, 2015, 7 to 9 PM

On Wednesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., The Vermont Made Film Festival will come to a close with a special presentation by local historian and Jamaica resident Greg Joly. With photos, stories and research, Joly will review the many floods that have affected the West River Valley in an attempt to prove that the 100-year flood rule does not apply to Jamaica. The presentation will include the findings of his two year odyssey combing through 130 years worth of historical newspaper archives that revealed floods lost to our living memory. This program will take place at Jamaica Town Hall, Route 30, Jamaica Village. It is co-sponsored by Jamaica Memorial Library and Jamaica Historical Foundation. The public is invited and donations to benefit programs at both organizations are appreciated. Refreshments.
