"Fleeting Moments - Why We Go On" is a free group exhibit of photography, sculpture, poetry, and art made from the pulp of recycled combat uniforms in response to themes in the David Budbill-Erik Nielsen collaboration: "A Fleeting Animal: An Opera from Judevine." The opening reception is Saturday, August 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Chandler's Downstairs Gallery (hallway near the restrooms), and the exhibit continues through September 27 during regular gallery hours: Fridays 3-6 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays noon-3 p.m. (See http://chandlergallery.weebly.com/). Themes include the hardships and joys of rural living; love and loss; distrust of differences; and the experience of returning veterans, their families and communities. Intended as a counterpoint to the opera, selected works reflect the duality and balance point between despair and hope, loss and recovery, and fleeting moments that deliver us from the struggles of everyday life.

Featured artists are: Ruth Coppersmith, Kevin Hart, Holly King, Patricia Lyon-Surrey, Michelle Saffran, Jackie Smith, John Snell, Jon Turner, Isabel Weinger-Nielsen, Bonny Willett. Poets: David Budbill, Geoff Hewitt, Diane Swan, and Jon Turner. This exhibit runs concurrently with six Vermont performances of A Fleeting Animal: An Opera From Judevine, culminating with a final performance 9/20 on the Main Stage of the Chandler.
