Last night a prospective buyer for the Richmond Creamery gave a presentation to the Selectboard about their concept for development there. Peak Properties, led by Brendan O'Reilly out of Waterbury, has not purchased the property but has spent nine months examining the site and determining whether or not they could put together a plan to work the site.
Part of that plan is a request for higher residential density, by increasing the number of possible residential units from 24 to 33, and keeping the square footage ratio of commercial to residential at 60% commercial and 40% residential. The have also asked for consideration of lower parking requirements.
The Selectboard has reactivated the Interim Zoning Committee to publicly vet the proposal and provide an initial recommendation. Prior to any changes, the Selectboard would still need to hold a public hearing on the matter. However, the IZ committee is preparing to meet on Monday, August 24th at 7:00 pm in Town Center. They will review the request to amend the zoning and involve the public in the conversation. It is exciting to finally see a concept but it is quite a long ways from being considered a development plan. Please come to the meetings and learn more and be heard!
