The Town of Morristown, in partnership with River Arts, has received a grant from the Vermont Arts Council to work with Vermont artists and community members to bring three sculptures to the downtown area. The selection committee, comprised of artists and community members, has narrowed the pool of artist proposals down to two for the final community vote and now is your chance to choose which artist's work you would like to see in Morristown. There will be a presentation of both artists work during the music break, PLEASE VOTE, this is your community

The two selected local artists, Gordon Auchincloss www.ambientflow.com and Michael Zebrowski www.zebrowski.tumblr.com, have each created proposals for three sculptural “trees” in Morrisville’s designated downtown. One of the three sculptures in each proposal will have an interactive component, managed by River Arts through artist residencies, that will allow for new engagement between artists and community organizations. The “trees” will help create a sense of place for residents and visitors alike, and serve as a dynamic mechanism for engaging dialogue in the community through these revolving curatorial exhibitions.

This project will also continue Morristown’s momentum of revitalizing the downtown by creating trees that will become landmarks in the community. Through the past few years Morristown and MACC has strived to bring art out into the community through the chair-art-able Adirondack chair project and the street banners, all painted by local community members. With the opening of the four season Lamoille Valley Rail Trail this fall, the area will see an influx of people visiting the area from far and wide. These sculptural trees will be a cultural draw into the downtown and create a unique community landmark.
