Jericho Farmers Market - We're looking forward to seeing you at the market this week.
Thanks to all of you who participated in our National Farmers Market Week and VT Open Farm week Celebrations last week at the Jericho Farmer Market - we had a lot of fun with it.
We had a great time with the Market Trivia Game that Ale of Agricola Farm Coordinated. Lots of maple lollipops from VT Maple Forest Products went out to those who found some of the answers! Three folks won the larger prize of a box of assorted maple candies, by filling out the entire game card! Thanks to Julia of VMFP who made up the prize packages with great “National Farmers Market Week” labels and to all the vendors who participated!
The winners of the Frequent Shopper Thank You baskets were - Tracey Mauer of Underhill and Audrey King of Winooski! Thank you to the wonderful vendors who donated to the baskets: Honey from MT Creek Apiaries, Maple Candy and Maple Sugar from Vermont Maple Forest Products, Fresh veggies and fruit from Maple Star Farm, Jams from Nama Farm, Gift Certificates from Hot Tamale, Mustard from Ate-Oh-Two, Maple syrup from Walkers Pure Vermont Syrup (hope I didn’t miss anyone!)
This week your shopping experience will be enhanced with the music of Rev. Regina and Stephan on Harp and Guitar with lovely tunes to be the soundtrack for your afternoon.
Here are the items vendors asked me to highlight for you this week:
2015 Raw Honey!
The new honey crop has arrived! MT Creek Apiaries will be bringing 2015 Raw Honey this week - stop by for a taste and talk to Paul about the benefits of local honey.
Maple Star Farm's booth will be featuring our organic "beefsteak" style slicing tomatoes and Blueberries this week. We'll also have plenty of cucumbers, sweet bell peppers, jalapenos, yellow summer squash, green beans, lettuce, eggplant, basil and herbs.
Poker Hill Gardens would like to remind gardeners that winter is coming and that August and September are the best months for transplanting most perennials. This gives the plants a chance to develop a good root system before frosts and winter snow. Over the next weeks we will have a variety of ornamentals for your pleasure next season. Customers who ordered daylilies and irises for later pickup should receive notices that their plants are ready in the next two weeks.
