Fletcher School To Host Traveling Van Gogh Exhibit
The Fletcher Elementary School will host a traveling exhibit of Post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous works August 26-28. The exhibit is free and open to the community.
The exhibit will include oversized satin reproductions of four of Van Gogh’s paintings, including Starry Night, Café Terrace at Night, Trees in the Garden of Saint Paul Hospital and Yellow Wheat and Cypresses, which measures 17 feet in length. The exhibit also includes the painter’s self-portrait and biographical and historical information. The exhibit celebrates Van Gogh’s art, French language, French and Dutch culture and history.
Van Gogh’s 2,100 known works of art include 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints. He had a far-reaching influence on 20th Century art.
