This Saturday, August 8th, Montpelier will be the place to enjoy a beautiful summer day with several events and activities planned. Early on Saturday morning, 38 vintage trailers will head into downtown Montpelier to set up for the first ever Vermont Vintage Trailer Show. The event takes place from 10 am-3 pm.
Vintage Trailers from the 1950’s and 1960’s will line State Street and the parking lot at 60 Main Street. Folks are invited to tour the trailers and owners will be on hand to answer questions about the restoration process or just for “trailer talk.” Festivalgoers can pick up ballots at the pocket park on Main Street and vote for the People’s Choice Awards including Best Interior, Best Exterior and Overall Best Trailer.
Just steps from the Vintage Trailer show will be Youth Day at the Capital City Farmers’ Market. Kids become vendors for the days and it’s always a blast to see what wares they are selling and our future farmers in action.
Montpelier’s downtown stores and boutiques will also host their annual Summer Sidewalk Sales all weekend. This weekend brings giant sales to wrap up summer and to get the kids ready to go back to school. Shoppers will enjoy up to 75% off at stores like Onion River Sports, No. 9 boutique will be offering up to 60% off clothing, bras and shoes, and Montpelier’s newest antique store, The Alley, will be celebrating its Grand Opening and introducing an expanded inventory space where many of the Consignors are reducing their merchandise by 10%. This is just the beginning, don't miss the great sales at most Montpelier shops all weekend.
Also happening on Saturday, the United Motorcyclists of Vermont will hold the 29th annual Toy Ride benefiting Shriner's Hospital for Children. At approximately 1:30 pm, volunteers will clear State Street and the motorcycles will take route through the Vermont Vintage Trailer Show and end at the State House where the donated toys will be collected.
Parking is recommended at the Department of Labor, Montpelier High School or behind City Hall. Check the Montpelier Alive Facebook page for event updates and more details.
